psalm 104 (highlight of my time in Saskatchewan)

Every morning as I trudge out to the barn in the dark, I search the sky for any sign of the Northern Lights. But this morning as I crossed the muddy yard, coffee in hand, I looked up and stopped dead in my tracks, my mouth fell open, and I just stared.

Spikes of green silently rose and fell, twisted and shone, beckoning brightly. So I followed. I snuck out behind the barn into the dark bushes, where no light could interfere, and looked up in anticipation. It was so beautiful it made me cry, and I laughed in delight. Flashes of light were illuminating patches of gas, transparent against the clear sky, stars twinkling behind them. But the patches of light were incredible swirls, the whole night sky lit up in shapes and twinkling stars and green spikes.

And God whispering into my heart,

“Be still, and know that I am God.” Psalm 46:10
